I turn physical products into software platforms.
Product and technology executive · Co-created the Matter standard · Named inventor on 65 U.S. patents

The same idea has scaled from a box on a countertop to four million homes to the building itself: physical products become software platforms, platforms become recurring revenue, and the experience keeps getting better long after the sale. Since 2019, the engine behind that improvement has been AI, shipped into millions of homes well before it was fashionable.

Four scales, one idea

The founding story · uControl → iControl
We started uControl to drag monitored security into the internet age. We won Comcast's national platform RFP against a rival with twice our funding, merged into iControl on the strength of that win, and built the platform most new interactive home-security accounts in North America ran on.

The scale story · Comcast
The only founder retained after the 2017 acquisition. Six years running product for Connected Home as it grew from about $500 million to over $750 million a year, with the highest NPS of any Comcast or Sky product five years running.

The edge story · Simple Things
I was recruited to find the market for a deep edge-AI technology base. We shipped eleven devices and a privacy-first platform that paired local AI with frontier models.

The building story · Vessel
Every new Vessel apartment ships with a private, local AI agent whose learned preferences move with the resident between buildings. To our knowledge, the industry's first.
Read the building storyTwenty years separate a screen-scraped web form from a standard backed by every major ecosystem. Fourteen of them on the Zigbee, then CSA, board, where I led the board effort that turned a small technical consortium into the multi-standard Connectivity Standards Alliance. I served on the negotiation team that brought Apple and Google to the table for what shipped in November 2022 as Matter.
The invention story
65 granted U.S. patents, and the machine that produced them.
Patenting at this early stage was a long-game bet on ourselves that carried real consequences. Every dollar and every engineering hour at uControl had an immediate claim on it, and we spent some of both on inventions that wouldn't pay off for years. The portfolio survived two acquisitions and assertion litigation intact, and Comcast is still prosecuting continuations in 2026.
